Black and White Leather Jacket

We are now officially in the leather jacket season here in the big apple. The temperature did not drop much, but the wind has picked up remarkably. You may not want to get wrapped up in too many layers yet. All you need is a nice jacket that shields you from the wind.

Black leather jacket is classic, but color blocking is also fun. Do you like this black and white leather bomber from Karl Lagerfeld?

BTW the second picture is a pure show-off of my quads... As I was walking down the street in UWS on Sunday, a guy caught me and asked:"Are you a dancer? No? Then you must have done some dancing before. You have dancer's legs!" Haha, that's weight lifter's legs, babe! // feeling proud

Saks: FRNFAM

Saks is running its friends & family event now with code FRNFAM. What did you get? I'm scratching my head as the excluded brand list is growing longer every year. Well, at least this Helmut Lang jacket is on sale. Last time I paired it with skirt for an office appropriate look, and here is a casual outfit with it.

Chunky Blanket Cardigan

Last time, we reviewed the big chunky knit trend of fall/winter 2014. In particular, cardigans are widely used as a soft cozy substitute of over coats for a more laid-back look. I got this Vince piece last winter, but I'm sure you will find many options in the market this season. For the chicest style, stay neutral with colors and go fancy with knit work. Chunky knit and blanket / bathrobe style are the two main elements that will shine throughout this winter.

BTW Shopbop is running its friends & family event with code FAMILY25. Many of the cardigans I listed below are included!

First Taste of Fall 2014

Hey, I'm back from my trip! Here comes a shot in the famous Temple Bar area of Dublin. Ireland is fun, fun, fun! More stories on the way. Stay tuned~ :)

Yes, it was already chilly in Ireland with high in the 60's and low in the 40's. This was my first taste of fall 2014.

Lululemon Tanktop

For New Yorkers, Labor Day equates to US Open. There is no better way to kick off a long weekend than a festive world-class sport event. I'm not a tennis fan, but the game, the crowd, the drinking and lounging always draws me back to this stadium. US Open is one of the best organized events I've ever been to. All booths and bars are well staffed, and I can always get my drink or food in minutes.

Sporty chic is always welcome on a day like this. I don't work out in Lululemon, being afraid that those cute cutouts may get caught somewhere and cause accident. That's said, Lulu style is really cute. Weekends and sports occasions are where it really belongs to.

Subtle Cutout Dress

Unique cutout designs may add an unexpected element to any silhouette. The key to subtlety and elegance is showing a sliver of skin without revealing too much. When cutouts at the waist or shoulders have become too cliche, this dress with cutouts at the side of thighs still seem quirky.

Hey, I'm not a quitter!

Sorry for being absent in the past a few days! Life has been hectic, but I'm committed to this blog! I'm desperately in need of a haircut. Nevertheless, I'm here posting more pictures, because you've asked for more... I feel so touched and loved. xoxo~~ :)

Just a quick shot of what I wore this weekend: a beautiful embroidered mini-dress from Free People. Yes, it deserves a close-up. Got lots of compliments throughout the day. This is one of those pieces that represents the brand's free spirit in a more subtle style. I attempted to mix it with a structured purse, a preppy watch, and studded masculine boots to create a Boho chic outfit. Do you like it?

Summer Rose Garden

On an 80F weekend afternoon, nothing feels better than a breezy silk floral print blouse. It's all about free spirit. Fashion comes and go; romantic floral print always stays. I bought this Rebecca Taylor rose garden blouse years ago, and still like its retro chic prints and soft texture. And the peach color looks just perfect for this season.

Paired it with denim shorts and boots, to balance out the girlieness of the top. Besides, boots would keep my feet dry in an afternoon thunderstorm. :)

Stuck with My Down Coat for Too Loooooong!

I woke up this morning and checked the temperature: 17F. Are we really in March? This is insane... I've been in down coats for too long!

Anyway, I got this Burberry Brit Fletch Leigh Belted Down Coat this winter. It has a very slim fit and looks better than my Moncler. The only thing is that it's not very well made. I see white down sticking out here and there almost every day. I wonder whether it can still keep me warm next winter if it keeps losing down like this. I guess I will get a new one anyway. And I will go back to Moncler. Burberry doesn't know how to make high quality down coats. :)

Paired it with the DV by Dolce Vita Malika Boots I recommended last time. See the difference between heels and flats? Flats make my legs look short and big... -_-!!!

A peek at my green cashmere sweater dress from Catherine Malandrino, bought many seasons ago. Is St. Patrick's Day around the corner?

DV by Dolce Vita Malika Boots

概要

推荐一双便宜 舒适又好看的皮靴: Malika boots from DV by Dolce Vita.

As some of you may already know, I am struggling with my plantar fasciitis, a foot injury from running. At night, I use night splint; and at day time, I need orthotic footwear to help recovery.

Birkenstock boots were the first resort I seeked. "The leather-lined contoured footbed will mold to the shape of your foot creating a custom footbed that supports and cradles your each and every step." That could be true, but,  yuk, they were hideous! If I were given two options, walking happily in a pair of bulky Birkenstock or sitting in a wheelchair in a pair of Blahnik, I would jump to the second without blinking my eyes. In fact, I don't believe i would ever walk "happily" in that chunk of ultra ugliness. The mere sight of the boots made me scream.

Now I'm using Superfeet insoles to help recovery. As a result, I had to size up my boots to accommodate this extra orthotic arch support. I didn't want to splurge on it as I saw this as temporary (well, at least I hoped I would kiss plantar fasciitis good-bye before next winter). My budget was $200. The boots had to have flat heel, wide toe box (to accommodate the insoles), and somewhat good style.

I searched for a while and finally found this pair of Malika boots from DV by Dolce Vita. They meet all my requirements, and look cool on my feet. I tried both colors and they both looked great. After a long debate, I decided to keep the black pair. I've been wearing it for two months, and got lots of compliments in the street. I loved the studs. And the best part? I got it on sale! Only $74.47. I sized up 1 full size in order to put in my Superfeet insoles, but I think it's true to size.
